We just hit 40 episodes. That’s ten months of weekly drops, kid interruptions mid-recording, and more protein shake talk than we ever expected to make it on-air. It’s been fun, but it’s also got us asking the hard founder-style question:

Where are we actually falling short?

And while you’re at it, check out the full episode and please, please, please subscribe to our YouTube channel. We’re on a sprint to reach 1k YouTube subscribers and we need your help!

What Founders Really Mean When We Say “We’re Fine”

We opened this one with blender noise and dad jokes because that’s honestly who we are. Then we asked the question most founders avoid until a board deck forces it: where are we falling short? Forty episodes in ten months feels like a win. But we still feel the pull to grow faster, reach farther, book spicier guests. The easy route is provocation for clicks. That’s not us. We’d rather be the show you trust than the clip you scroll past.

What We’ve Learned by Shipping Every Week

Consistency isn’t glamorous, but it stacks up. The content flywheel only works when we keep showing up, not when we chase hacks. When we sound like ourselves—loose, useful, a little messy—you respond. When we over-polish, the heart leaks out. So here’s our promise: less performative growth, more honest value.

Build for Hair-on-Fire Problems

Founders hear a lot of “interesting idea” and not enough “we’ll pay for that Friday.” Dozens of real discovery conversations show the same pattern. If the problem isn’t immediate, painful, and budget-worthy, it stalls. Buyers aren’t short on options, they’re short on confidence. Aim at urgent pain and deliver outcomes people can feel this quarter.

We Owe Our Teams a Scoreboard

“Work whenever, as long as the work gets done” sounds modern. It’s also how leaders avoid defining success. We’ve hired amazing people before without clear KPIs and blamed the fog on the weather. That’s on us. Hours can be humane and still be clear. Autonomy works best when the scoreboard is simple and visible.

Action Beats Anxiety

Shipping beats spiraling. Cold calls. LinkedIn outreach. Customer interviews. Publishing even when a post feels half-baked. Every time we shorten the gap between idea and action, momentum shows up. Every time we linger in analysis, ego takes the wheel.

The Founder Ego

Sleepless nights aren’t from fatal failure. They’re from visible failure. We don’t want to look like we’re losing even while we’re learning. Companies that look unstoppable online are often fighting fires behind the scenes. The only way through is to tell the truth faster to customers, to teammates, and to ourselves.

Family > Flexes

High achievers often say at the end of life that they wish they had spent more time with family. We don’t need to wait for the obituary to learn that lesson. Our kids will remember that we were there on the floor, in the driveway, at the game. They won’t remember our Q3 ARR.

Boundaries Are a Leadership Skill

Some people shut the laptop at 4 p.m. and walk away clean. Founders are usually all gas or dead stop. The middle pedal is harder, but it’s where durable companies live. Clear work hours, reliable responses, real rest. Not austerity. Sustainability.

Train for the Next 40 Years

Quick detour into health because bodies and brains power the business. We’ve shifted from pure lifting to more mobility, carries, cardio, and awkward movements that make you feel less invincible but more capable. Longevity is the point. Also, mowing steep lawns should count as Zone 2.

What We’re Asking From You

If you’ve listened to two episodes or forty, tell us what’s working and what’s not. Do you want more founder-in-the-trenches tactics? More teardown energy? More guests who teach without peacocking? Hit reply or DM us. We’ll keep shipping, keep learning out loud, and keep building something we’d be proud to hand our kids.

Together With Momentous

Creatine isn’t just for gym rats. It’s one of the rare supplements that helps both body and brain—more strength, faster recovery, sharper focus. The catch has always been the mess: giant tubs, chalky scoops, powder everywhere.

Momentous fixed that. Their new Creatine Lemon comes in single-serve packs you just pour into water. Light lemonade flavor, no clumps, no excuses to skip a day.

What makes it different:

  • Made with Creapure®, the highest quality creatine from Germany

  • Every batch is NSF Certified for Sport®, tested for safety and banned substances

  • No fillers or junk, just clean ingredients that work

That’s why Olympians, pro teams, and even the military trust it. If you’ve thought about creatine or fell off it before, this is the easiest way to start again and actually stick with it.

The Quiet Thesis

  • Ship regularly, even when it’s not perfect

  • Measure what matters

  • Solve urgent, valuable problems

  • Protect presence at home

  • Treat boundaries as requirements

If that resonates, you’re our people. See you next week with fewer hacks, more honesty, and something you can try before your next meeting.
